Third Grade Bilingual Teacher

Étoile Academy teachers are responsible for executing our mission by ensuring that all students improve academically and demonstrate our core values. As a Third Grade Bilingual Teacher, you will provide high-quality, data-driven instruction, ensuring that Emergent Bilingual students receive the linguistic and academic support they need to succeed. You will collaborate with colleagues, including special education and ESL staff, to ensure all students receive necessary accommodations and modifications to master grade-level standards.

Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Learning:

  • Deliver engaging, rigorous instruction using Amplify and Eureka scripted curriculum in both English and Spanish.
  • Deeply internalize lessons and prepare for execution by considering common misconceptions, defining success criteria, and creating exemplars as needed.
  • Manage a classroom using Étoile Academy’s schoolwide discipline system to foster a structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Co-plan with grade-level teams, coaches, and direct managers to create lesson internalizations, exemplars, and lesson slides.
  • Implement formal and informal assessments (including NWEA MAP, mCLASS, i-Ready) to track student progress, inform instruction, and update the gradebook weekly.
  • Utilize student performance data to personalize learning and ensure student academic growth, particularly for English Language Learners.
  • Maintain consistent communication with students and families regarding academic progress, including daily and weekly updates.
  • Integrate technology as a tool for learning, communication, and work-related tasks.
  • Implement clear, consistent behavior management strategies and foster a strong sense of classroom community.
  • Support school-wide initiatives by participating in arrival, lunch, and dismissal duties.
  • Attend and engage in staff meetings, open houses, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students and families built on trust, understanding, and respect.
  • Provide targeted tutoring sessions to meet individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams and implement coaching feedback to improve student outcomes.
  • Engage in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, professional development, and school-wide functions to continually refine instructional practices.
  • Participate in summer and year-long learning and development opportunities.
  • Fulfill a minimum of 40+ hours at school per week.
  • Additional responsibilities may include after-school tutoring or Saturday school as needed.

  • Implement positive classroom management strategies that foster a safe and structured space for learning.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives, such as advisory/intervention programs, extracurricular activities, or community events.
  • Learn, master, internalize, and effectively deliver grade-level curriculum, core content objectives, and instructional materials while maintaining appropriate rigor and utilizing selected texts.
  • Communicate students’ progress with students and family on a weekly basis. 
  • Implement our clear and consistent behavior management system and build a strong sense of community in the classroom. 

Collaboration & Professional Development:

  • Participate in weekly professional development, instructional coaching, and data-driven planning meetings.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, instructional leaders, and support staff to enhance curriculum and student outcomes.
  • Engage in continuous learning and improvement through research-based best practices in language education.
  • Help shape and develop a school wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student. 
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with colleagues, students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify.  
  • Participate in weekly check-ins, grade-level meetings, live-coaching in the moment by instructional leaders, before, during, and after-school duties, and school wide meetings and functions. 
  • Engage in district approved personal learning and development (summer/year-long).
  • Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work related tasks. 

Goals

  • Reduce the number of students reading below benchmark on mCLASS by 20% (Fall to Spring)
  • 50% or more of our Emergent Bilingual students will grow at least one proficiency level on TELPAS Composite
  • 65% or better of all students meet or exceed NWEA MAP growth goals annually

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution is required (Education, or related field preferred).
  • Certification: Texas teaching certification preferred – or ability to obtain certification within two years.
  • Experience: Prior teaching experience preferred, especially in a K-12 setting. Demonstrated success in fostering student achievement and language acquisition.
  • Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Reading Academies: Completion preferred.
  • Assessment Knowledge: Experience with mCLASS/DIBELS is a plus.
  • Skills & Competencies:
